Chairman, Derek Shaw is this weekend out in Portugal for the annual League Chairman Conference and this could be where activity starts for North End.
As Irvine takes a few days off with his family in the sun he has a list of potential players he wishes to bring in and is hoping that some movement can be made by his chairman this weekend.
One player linked wiht North End is ex-loan player David Jones who is currently at Derby. Jewell is keen to offload a number of his squad for a shot at a return to the Premiership with Jones thought to be one of them. Local reports in Derby suggested both Wolves and Preston were interested in the young midfielder but it has now been confirmed that after agreeing a fee Jones could not agree personal terms with Wolves.
This leaves the door ajar for Preston to make a move but the only concern for Preston being that if he failed to agree personal terms with Wolves this it is not likely that North End will be able to meet his demands.
A player who may wel be leaving North End is wideman Simon Whaley who has been linked with big spending QPR. It is rumoured in local press that the Hoops may be making a bid int he region of £500,000 for the young wide player to join up with ex-team mate Agyemang down at Loftus Road.
