The £6 million rated man vowed to stay and fight for preston's promotion cause until the end of the season and at the moment the boy is on fire.

Preston changed formation to 4-3-3 with Ricketts playing behing Nugent and Ormerod. It appears that manager Paul Simpson will do anything to keep Sedgewick in the team as he lined up in a three man midfield with Mckenna and Pugh.

The first half was end to end and Preston were down withing two minutes. pot shot by Wednesday's Deon Burton looked to be covered by Andy Lonergan but the shot somehow bobbled over Lonergan's outstrecthed hand.

Preston responded almost immediately with Nugent making a run down the left. He made room for a right footed cross which Ricketts headed back across goal beating keeper Crossley and the defender leaving Ormerod with an open net from one yard to score.

Preston could only attack with the formation they were playing whilst the home side came at Preston. However, just before the break a decisive moment swayed the match. Nugent made another run down the left beating his man, cutting into the box and finishing left footed past the beaten Crossley.

The half time whistle went and Preston came out the stronger. Within minutes Ormerod was set free and placed a perfect ball into the box for Nugent to score his second.

Preston then took the sting out of the game as Wednesday tried to pile forward. Whaley came on for Ricketts as Preston went back to 4-4-2 to secure the victory for the 3,000 travelling fans.

Preston move back into second as Birmingham were held at Colchester. West Brom are only a point back as Preston try to keep the pressure on the leaders Derby as Ken Dodd and the didy men once again mnaged a late late victory to secure three points.
