Preston fired blanks for the second game in succession as they managed a goalless draw on the south coast. Nugent and Dichio amongst others failed to convert chances which left Preston outside the play off positions for the first time in a while. Wolves now lie in sixth position despite Preston having games in hand - one against Ipswich on Tuesday. The top six had a bad day with none of them winning - Palace play on Monday.
Preston have now kept 18 clean sheets this season and the second best defensive record in the divison but this will mean little at the end of the season if they finish outside the top six. Billy Davies knows where the problem lies and has very little time to sort it out.
