April Fools day lived upto its name but the joke certainly wasn't on Preston as they managed to clinch a vital three points on their first visit to the Ricoh Arena. The home side, unbeaten in 12 matches at home were punished by a clinical break in the first half. From a Coventry corner, Nash caught the ball and threw quickly to Agyemang out on the right. The striker then used his pace and precision to put in a crossfield pass to youngster Whaley who tormented the defence before slotting past the keeper from 25 yards out.

Coventry came back into the game in the second half to put North End under pressure but they wasted a glorious chance in the first half when Nash saved easily from a one on one situation.

The Whites now have five games remaining but crucially are now eight points ahead of rivals Cardiff and Wolves who both fell to defeats at the weekend. Losses for Watford and Leeds mean North End are now only five points off third spot with Palace only three points away.
