Preston lost a place in the play off race as they failed to convert chances in a game in which they dominated possession.
Manager Davies rung the changes in light of resting players for the play offs. Youngster Wilson started his second game in a row for the club partnering Mawene who was captain for the day as Davis was left out. Captain Alexander was also left out along with Mckenna. stock started his first game for the club in midfield with Jarrett as Lewis Neal continued on the left with Dichio starting up front with Whaley.
Preston took the lead with Whaley who scored for the third consecutive game on the road. It was another stunner as he managed to beat the defence from a long ball and fire home from outside the box. Whaley looked a menace up front having earlier had a shot wide.
This season Preston have managed to cope without having too many officials having off days but today all three men in green had absolute stinkers. A lightweight Hull side saw the home team falling at every opportunity. Just before the break Mawene laid a fingernail on the Hull striker who promptly hit the deck. Unfortunately from the resulting free kick the ball hit Mawene's thigh and past Nash into the bottom corner for an equaliser.
Preston then went on to boss the second half with Dichio having a couple of chances to give Preston the lead. Hull played on the break and had one chance of note making Nash save.
Preston were more than worthy of a point and could still end up anywhere from third to sixth with one game of the season to play.
it has been noted on advice from West Yorkshire Police that whoever faces Leeds in the semi-final, the first leg will take place on Saturday.
