A maiden goal each from Neill Collins and Danny Welbeck on his Deepdale debut gave North End the win on Saturday, making it back-to-back wins for the first time since August.
After a lackluster first half display, Darren Ferguson seemed to give his players the lift they needed at half time.
In fact it was one of his tactical changes that spurred North End into life with centre back Neill Collins replacing Youl Mawene midway through the second half.
The former Sunderland man rose above all to head home his first goal in Preston colours and subsequently give North End a much needed lead.
With Neill Collins' goal looking like it was going to be enough to seal the points, new boy Danny Welbeck scored an audacious chip, to the sheer delight and amazement of the Deepdale faithful and the players alike.
