Pointless Preston Despite Possession

Irvine changed the team again with Nicholls being left out due to family problems it is believed. Agyemang and Ormerod started up front with improving Whaley on the left, Davidson slotting into the middle. The defence was also reshuffled with Hill returning and Chilvers playing alongside Mawene with St Ledger playing at right back.

The first ten minutes were end to end. A North End free kick ended up in the net but was ruled offside. Wolves hit the post and there were other chances for both sides.

The game calmed down and Preston looked comfortable without being too threatening. Whaley put in a decent number of crosses throughout the match but no one could convert.

Preston came out after the break looking the more positive having the majority of possession and creating chances. It was ont he break that Preston were caught as the midfield allowed Henry to roam unmarked and fire home from 25 yards out.

Mellor, Carrol and Gallagher all came on with Preston creating chances. Davidson and Carrol both missing guilt edge opportunities.

Wolves looked dangerous with every ball in the box as Lonergan flapped at almost every ball. Keogh was denied a penalty as Preston could not find the equaliser.

Irvina has something to work on with two important games coming up. They enjoyed a lot of possession today. They created chances but could just not quite finish and less mistakes were being made throughout the match. If over this busy period Preston can keep improving then confidence along with points should see the club moving forward.
