Poor Preston Pick Up Point

Alan Irvine said Tuesday's performance was a one off against Swansea but to be honets nothing today convinced me that Preston were playing anywhere near a level that they needed to be to maintain their current position.

Fortunately, Sheffield United were equally as poor with the pacey Danny Weber probably having the best of the ball.

At this point I would try to describe the multitude of chances from either one side or another - if only it was that simple.

I think I recall either keeper making a save on two occassions. All were routine straight at the keeper save for a shot late on from an angle which Lonergan palmed over the bar.

The main talking points were minimnal. Both sets of fans shouted for shirt pulls in the box but neither set of players protested when nothing was given on each occassion.

Sheff Utd had the ball in the net but from an offside position and Chris Brown, a late substitute blasted over in the dying moments from five yards out.

Preston lacked nay creativity without the injured Wallace and scoring opportunities were limited to a minimum. The Whites stay int he top six but need to improve if they are to stay in a play off position.
