Preston failed to capitalise as the majority of the teams in the play-off hunt failed to secure maximum points at the weekend.
Marcus Stewart made his debut for the Whites and showed some nice touches but at times Preston lacked penetration without looking vulnerable at the back.
The goalless draw means Preston now move two points clear of Wolves and Cardiff. The Whites now play their all important game in hand on Tuesday night against Crewe which has now become a must win fixture for both teams. Preston will just hope they can find some kind of form in the goal scoring stakes with seven games remaining.
