Preston had a hard fought win against strugglers Crewe at Deepdale. A goal from Brett Ormerod who cut in from the left and slotted past the keeper in the first half sealed the points for the Whites.
Preston once again had to put out a make shift side with three up front - Marcus Stewart just playing behind Ormerod and Agyemang. Stewart had a good game picking out several key passes with North End on top for much of the game without finishing their chances.
Kelvin Wilson played his first game at the back with Mawene having a virus. The youngster had a good game alongside Davis. Alexander was forced to play at left back due to Hill's absence and things got worst through the night as O'Neill and Mckenna limped off with injuries. This added to the virus which kept Stock out of the squad along with the injuries to Davidson, Nugent, Nowland and Lonergan.
Preston now lie three points behind fifth place Palace who face Watford on Saturday. With only six games to go though Preston hold a five point advantage and superior goal difference over rivals Wolves and Cardiff.
