They say it is points and not performances that matter at this stage of the season and true to form Preston tried as hard as they could to not win this game during the first half.
Preston made a bright start with Ormerod and Nugent creating early pressure. After ten minutes they carved open the Ipswich defence with the two strikers faced with just one defender. It resulted in Naylor pulling down Ormerod when through on goal. Ipswich were left to play 80 minutes with ten men. Mckenna struck the resulting free kick onto the post and Preston created very little for the rest of the half.
Ipswich dropped old boy Fuller back onto the right wing and Preston had space on both wings but failed to utilise it. Ipswich had a rare foray forward and Mawene was booked and Ipswich swung in a fee kick for de vos to head home.
Preston started the second half brightly in the pouring rain and soon were level with Nugent side footing home from 15 yards. The same player then flicked the ball past the keeper moments later from a Mckenna cross. Preston were then ramapnt with Nugent missing a chance for his hat trick - easier than his firts two goals but injuring himself in the process. Agyemang rounded things off by out sprinting the defence and sliding past the keeper - much like his goal earlier in the season at Portman Road.
Davidson had to spend the remainder of th ematch on the left touchline as he appeared to injure himself. There was still time for Dichio to miss a freee header and Whaley to miss a chance.
The Whites move back into sixth place with a game in hand on rivals Wolves who have a tricky game away at Reading on Saturday.
