The game was one of the most open of the season with both sides having to go for the win to have any chance of putting pressure on the sides in the top six. Preston will be happier with the point but disappointed not to take all three.
The first half saw two chances of note with Adebola misisng for Bristol City whilst Parkin fluffed Preston's big chance.
Bristol City then expose Preston's defensive frailties early in the second half. Adebola easily turned Mawene and looped a ball in the box to find Maynard in between two defenders, completely free (how many times has this happened this season?). Maynard put a pinpoint header pas Lonergan who was fuming at the lack of marking once again.
Preston were soon back in the game as City gave away a needless corner. Mawene raced onto the ball to poke home.
Both sides pushed for the win with Preston just lacking the final ball on the break which could have given them all three points.
Preston now look destined to finish outside the top six unless Cardiff or Burnley have a disastrous end to the season.
