Rovers rally to victory

Tranmere came from behind to seal a 2-1 victory over Preston - a second win in four days for Ronnie Moore's men.

Preston claimed the lead in the 12th minute with Graham Cummins heading in strongly following a well-placed free-kick by Barry Nicholson.

It took Tranmere just two minutes to equaliser, Enoch Showunmi heading home following good work by Ryan Brunt.

John Welsh was not far off target with a shot from range before Brunt wasted a big chance when set clear in the 25th minute.

Then, Thorsten Stuckmann in the North End goal just held onto a James Wallace strike.

It required an excellent save by Stuckmann to deny Lucas Akins in the 54th minute, before another Wallace attempt was deflected for a 64th minute corner.

But Tranmere kept up the pressure and went ahead in the 67th minute when Andy Robinson fired in off a post after being set up by Ian Goodison.

Preston kept battling away but rarely threatened home keeper Owain Fon Williams as they failed to win for a fifth match running.
